Bamboo Fabric store FAQ.

1. Is an item mine when I add it to my cart or only once I checkout?

It is yours once its in your cart which leaves you free to investigate all the other products or peruse our information pages before checking out. The cart will expire after 2 hours of inactivity, so don't leave it too long, but no need to rush.

2. I am interested in a bamboo fabric you don't have. Can you get it in?

3. I have a business, what can you do for me?

We have a range of wholesale prices for different quantities. Please contact us to apply for wholesale rates.

4. I want to buy quite a large amount of fabric for personal use. can I get a discount?

5. How does preordering work?

Preorders are available in two ways. Preorder and Register your Interest.

Preorders are available for fabrics that are on order or have already been ordered but arent yet instock. In this case you order as you would an instock fabric or item. You enter a quantity and proceed to checkout. At checkout you will just pay 50% of the cost of the item. Once the fabric arrives we will notify you and send the final invoice for you to pay the remainder of the invoice including shipping.

Registering your Interest works in the following way. For many of the fabrics we will be offering them in the first instance as 'Register your Interest'. These fabrics will be listed to be ordered once a minimum total has been requested by customers. So one person may only want 1 metre and another person may want 249m. This would qualify the fabric to be ordered. A 'Register your Interest' is not a firm commitment to buy. Once a 'Register your Interest' reaches a minimum order we will then ask for a firm commitment and a 50% deposit on your order.

To place a 'Register your Interest' please contact us via email with 'Register your Interest' in the subject line and we will reply giving you all the details.

As people place a 'Register your interest' the order quantity will reduce showing you how many more metres need to be 'bought'. This will give you an idea of how close a fabric is to being ordered and may sway you towards choosing that fabric over another.

6. Why are there 'Preorders' and 'Register your Interests'?

We will order an amount of a fabric and then ask for preorders to make sure we are covering the needs of our customers. Afterall, we don’t want to fall short on offering you a reliable stock. A preorder guarantees you will get your fabric.

We will be doing a 'Register your Interest' because the range of bamboo and wild fibre fabrics available is very large (over 150) and while we would like to offer them all, we cannot yet stock them all or know whether they are desired. We thought that the best way to achieve this would be via 'Register your Interest'.

7. Are there samples available to view?

Samples are available for our instock fabrics.

8.. How do we order sample books?

• In stock knit fabrics
• In stock woven fabrics
• large samples of knit fabrics
• large samples of woven fabrics.

9. Do the bamboo fabrics contain bamboo fibre?

Absolutely. When we state that a product contains bamboo, it will contain natural bamboo not synthetic bamboo viscose. Synthetic bamboo viscose is made using a chemical process and bears resemblance to natural bamboo fibre. There has been talk in the marketplace of substitution going on without the public knowing. The bamboo Fabric store (trust) guarantees that all products labelled bamboo will be made from natural bamboo.

10. I would like to make products for commercial sale. What fabric do you suggest?

We have chosen manufacturers that produce high quality fabric. They dye well aswell as being sturdy. The properties of bamboo are truely fantastic and we've made sure that the products we sell live up to the good name of bamboo. Popular materials for nappys include fleece, velour and the terry cloths. For clothing I would suggest the jersey, fleece and interlock. Terry and Velour are also popular in active wear apparel.

A word of caution, The fabrics at bamboo fabric store are not intended for a particular use, and therefore it is highly recommended that if you intend on using the fabrics from BFS in commercial products that you test your product extensively before selling it to your customers. BFS will not be responsible for product complaints by your customers. It is your responsibility to make sure that the fabrics we sell are appropriate to your commercial need.

11. You say you're an ethical and environmental business. what does that mean to you?

It means a few things. The Bamboo Fabric Store stands firm on not importing and selling goods that have been manufactured unethically or that support a regime that is unethical. Much effort and research has gone into standing by this ethos. You will note the absence of fabrics made by a specific economic superpower in East Asia for this reason. Environmentally we believe in sustainable industries. Bamboo fibres are truely ecological. Our Information pages have more information on the many ways that bamboo is a preferred fabric environmentally.

We are researching eco packaging options for shipping your packages as well as putting the onus on our customers to choose environmentally friendly options. We do not automatically include paper invoices but give you the choice in checkout to request this if you wish.
